Is this the end of the Lakers dynasty with Kobe?
No, but this sweep was so humiliating even Kobe wants to hide his face from the embarassment.
The Lakers didn't deserve to win, but Phil didn't deserve to end his coaching career (I hope it's not the end!) this way. The Lakers weren't trying and seemed to give up after Jason Terry hit his first three-pointer in game 4.
Now the Mavericks outplayed the Lakers in games 2 and 4, but the Lakers just didn't close out games 1 and 3. This sweep is so disappointing and painful with the "Beat LA" chants and the Mavericks fans singing "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye."
It gets even worse when Magic Johnson says the Lakers loss was classless. Lamar's bump on Dirk wasn't that dirty, but I can understand why he was ejected. The real dirty play was Bynum's foul on Barea, an elbow while Barea was in midair.
That is just cold. This makes me care a lot less if the Lakers keep Bynum or just trade him away. I was on the bandwagon for his whole career, but I just jumped off. He has had too many knee problems, is too immature, and doesn't realize he can't make a jumpshot in the game, no matter how many he hits in practice.
All I gotta say is, "Dwight for Drew."
Come on Mitch, call up Otis Smith.
